Action Research Plan

Here is my slightly updated action research plan. Changes should appear in red.

  1. Your plan is very thorough and well-conceived. One thing you may want to consider (and it could just be a clarification) but how will you select the students for your study? Will you be comparing just individual year-over-year improvement or as a group? Will you try to keep your two (or more) test groups "level" in regards to their overall performance on the exams or just use the data relative to where they are right now? Also, how will you account for the difference between teachers (through alignment, teaching style, personality of instructor, etc)? How will you treat outliers? Will you try to develop a research-based explanation for them?

Good stuff! I really like it!

  2. I am excited to see the results of your study. I would also consider looking at the End of Course exams. Since this will be the last year of TAKS, I am sure that some of the classes will be taking EOC exams. If taken online, the results of the EOC come back within 2 days. I would be very interested in the results of those tests. How many students will be in this study, and how will you choose them?

  3. Thanks for the comments, Greg and Amy. You both bring up some good points that I can use to modify my research plan. You have been a big help.
